Different infections and test methods become detectable at different times. A negative result obtained too early may need repeating after clinical advice.

Do not wait when symptoms are urgent

Severe pelvic or testicular pain, fever, a spreading rash, pregnancy concerns or symptoms after sexual assault require prompt medical assessment.
